Favorite Things- August 2018

Welcome to my first “favorite things” post!

I am very excited about this series. “Favorite Things” will be a monthly series on my blog where I share some of my current favorite entertainment, products, & trends! I decided to make this a series because I love reading other people’s recommendations & this topic was highly requested by my Instagram followers!

Anyone else hear Julie Andrews singing?

“Making It”

Crafting competition game show hosted by Amy Poehler and Nick Offerman. Kinda like “Parks & Rec” meets “Cupccake Wars”.

Available on Hulu

“Stay Here”

“Fixer Upper” for short-term rental properties. Hosted/designed by one of my favorite “Trading Spaces” designers Genevieve. My only complaint with this show is that they don’t discuss budget for the reno/decor, but overall I really like it!

Available on Netflix

“The Guernsey Literary & Potato Peel Pie Society”

Based on a novel, this romantic dramedy is about a London author & a book club that was formed on the island of Guernsey while it was occupied by German forces during WWII. Lily James is stunning in this movie & it has a very old-timey feel in both the setting & plot.

“I Feel Pretty”

I was initially turned off by this movie because it stars Amy Schumer, who I usually find to be too crude for me. But I heard some great reviews so I gave it a watch & I’m glad that I did. If you want a light film about body positivity, then this is the flick for you.

“Next Year in Havana”

This novel by Chanel Cleeton was Reese Witherspoon’s July bookclub pick. It’s about a granddaughter who travels to Cuba to explore her grandmother’s cuban roots. Having a cuban grandparent myself, I really connected to this book & the characters. Can’t wait to read Chanel’s next book!

Chickpea Snacks

I picked up a bag of these at T.J. Maxx & tucked them in my purse for an on-the-go snack. The bag lasted a long time & a serving size kept me full in between meals. These would be great for someone who has nut allergies but wants something comparable. I have only tried the Chili Lime flavor but will definitely be buying more!

$4.00 per bag

Revlon Volumizer

I scored this little tool during Prime Day but would pay full price for it in a heartbeat. It’s like having a Dry Bar blowout every day. I get compliments every time that I style my hair with this tool. It’s a must-have!

Woven Materials

I recently re-organized my master bedroom closet. I love the way it turned out. I used LOTS of woven baskets to organize & hide clutter. To see more photos & behind the scenes watch my Instagram story highlight titled: “organization”!

Slide Shoes

I have been LOVING slides this summer. This trend will be easily transitioned into fall by pairing with jeans. & you can continue on the same look when it gets too cold by trading your slides for some mules.

Havana Nights

In July, I attended a fun cuban themed party! Check out my favorite Cuban Spotify playlist [here} & throw your own Havana Nights Party before the summer ends!
